Children's Musicals
Over the years, Carol Sams’ children’s “operas” have appeared in Seattle area schools. Each, between a mere 7 minutes and a full hour, was based either on a folk or fairy tale and written in collaboration with the students and their teachers, with Carol’s help.

The stories are charming, and were always meant to be performed very simply with any costumes being pulled together by the students themselves.  Most especially, the music is beautifully suited to young voices.

From 1985 through 2003, Carol taught these operas to K-6 students. Since  the first set "Tales for the Very Young" was written for the K through 3rd graders of Sacajawea Elementary School in Seattle, WA,  through when "A Modern Fable of Three Ancient Lands" was written for the 6th graders of Meridian Park Elementary School in the Shoreline School District.  She has also used some of the individual songs on primary choral programs.

She never tires of them; the children love them; teachers and parents are delighted by them.  They are such fun!  But most of all, they introduce the children to beautifully written, well composed, fine music in the early years of their music education.
